Transfers and Baptism‏s

(Left to right sis law, kobayashi shimai, kanon, yuna, me, and sister Watkins)

How was your week? Hope all is well back home. This week has been quite the marathon! image2-28So we have now become yet another trio (sister Watkins, sister law, and I). We started the new transfer planning and getting
IMG_1734things in order for yuna chans baptism and its been a whirlwind, but as a trio we had been blessed to see so many miracles. Right before sister law came in we had a really awesome experience in which we were able to skype in sister michiko in our lesson with nakamura San. I was a little nervous because I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Skype lesson and It was crazy arranging times coordinating between Minnesota and Japan’s time zones, but as we sat down and although sister michiko was miles and miles away we felt so close to her and nakamura sans testimony was so strengthened. After some 15 to 20 years separated, it was great to see friends reunite and become United through the gospel. In missionary work, Members truly carry a special power in which they are able to access the hearts of their friends and as they bear sincere heartfelt testimony their friends’ hearts are opened and are taught through the spirit. I LOVE working with the members here in japan and even Minnesota!

Well sister law joined us and we have been going here and there getting things in order for yunas baptism and as we have been busy getting things done, we have run into a woman, suguwara san who came to church with my old comp reeves shimai and I and loved it but sadly due to the toils of daily life has not been able to return but the three times we ran into her this week, we remind her that it’s Gods will that we continue to meet her and hopefully she will be able to recognize soon that it’s not a coincidence but God communicating to her. But until then we continue to love and invite her. Ok the first night we were all together we arrived at one of our lessons a half hour early so decided to house, housed an apartment and every door that opened was quickly rebuffed with a no thank you. Undaunted we moved on to a few other places on the street and needed to head back to where our appt. would be, but remembered we didn’t put church fliers in the mailbox like we normally do, it was out of the way but decided to return, and put in all the fliers when we noticed a little room tucked off in the corner, barely recognizable. We figured why not and knocked and no one answered, but as we were ready to head out we heard a voice come from the voice box, we began talking and the woman was busy and I thought she might reject us like we had gotten the whole night but continued to talk, as we invited her to church she shocked us by saying she wants to learn more and is coming to the door. We talked on the steps and she is a woman from the Philippines and she told us how she is looking for truth. It was a brief meeting, but I was grateful we were guided by the spirit to return, there are so many people thirsting for this knowledge and truth and unless we go the extra mile and are willing to sacrifice a little more of our time and effort, we will not know how we could have influenced another for good.

This past Saturday we were blessed to witness the baptism of my sweet little friends yuna and kanon kobayashi be baptized. They have become like my little sisters, as we have taught them I have seen their little seeds of faith grow and bloom. They have taught me so much about God and the love he and our savior have for each of us. It was a beautiful baptism and was so wonderful to see their mom come back into full activity and spoke so humbly of how coming back to church she has been able to give her daughters true happiness. I know it’s been a long road for them to get here, but am overjoyed to see this family experience a mighty change of heart and seen the gospel lint up their life. This week I was reminded of this scripture from Matthew 18 :
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
As yuna chan and kanon chan bore simple yet powerful testimonies after their baptism, I finally have come to understand what this scripture means. They had a beautiful light about them and spoke strongly through the spirit. These two little girls and their mom are my heroes, I hope to become more like them and become meek and humble and come closer to my savior. I love this gospel and all of the people I have come closer to through it.
